Tile Flooring: Great Ideas for Your Bathroom

If you are planning to put new flooring in your bathroom, you’ll definitely want to give tile flooring some consideration. Since bathrooms are so damp, tile is an excellent choice, as it is so resistant to dampness and it is durable as well. Of course, slip resistant tiles are going to be essential as well in the bathroom. You’ll find that tile flooring for your San Diego bathroom comes in a variety of different shapes, styles, colors, and even textures. From square tiles to diamond shaped tiles, you’ll be able to find just the right thing. Not sure how to use tile in your bathroom to its best advantage? Here are a few good design ideas that you can consider when you're designing your floor with help from Wirtz Quality Installations.

Idea #1 – Contrasting Grout – One excellent tile idea for your bathroom is to use a contrasting grout color when you are having the tiling done. If you decide to go with white tile, a black grout can be a good choice. However, if you do use grout colors, make sure that the grout lines are well sealed to keep the color preserved.

Idea #2 – Add Tile Borders – Going with a solid color of tile flooring doesn’t have to be so boring anymore. If you do decide to go with a solid color of tile, you can add a nice border to the tile with a different color or by using several different colors. This will definitely make your bathroom look a lot more interesting.

Idea #3 – Bold Colors and Shapes – Do you want a more contemporary style in your bathroom? If so, then consider adding very bold colors when it comes to your tile. Also, you can use bold shapes as well with the colors, and this will look great against a background that is plain. Add a few contemporary accessories and you’ll have a beautiful contemporary style bathroom.

Idea #4 – Consider Different Sizes – If you happen to be planning to use the same color of tile on your walls and floors, you may want to consider different sizes of tiling for the walls. This helps to vary the look a bit, and having the tile on the walls done diagonally can also provide the same interesting affect as well.

Idea #5 – The Mediterranean Look – Going for a Mediterranean look in your bathroom? You can use your tile flooring to carry out your theme. Take terra cotta tiles and have them installed on your bathroom floor, but for variation, have some hand-painted tiles added here and there over the floor as well.

Idea #6 – Use One Color Theme – Some people have a favorite color they want to use in their bathroom, such as green. If this is the color of your choice, you can use it in many ways for your tile. Consider having some decorative tiling on the walls, adding green borders to the tile floor, perhaps having some of the tile done diagonally as well. You can take the one color and use variations to make the bathroom look wonderful in this one color theme. Many people like the natural variegation that some types of tiles offer. One caution about using one color—if your color choice is dark or the room is small, it can be overwhelming. Consider limiting it to one wall or to the shower area if this is the case. Tiles that are lighter in color can also make a difference.
